Located in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, Central China, Henan Institute of Science and Technology (HIST) is a comprehensive university primarily covering the discipline of agriculture, with joint development of science, engineering, education, management, literature, economics, law and arts.It originated from the Biology Department of College Division of Yan’an Academy of Natural Sciences in 1939, which was founded by Communist Party of China (CPC), and has undergone several development stages including the School of Agriculture of Northern University, the Agriculture College of North China University, the Changzhi Branch of the Agriculture College of North China University, the Changzhi Campus of Beijing Agricultural University, Pingyuan Agricultural College, Baiquan Agricultural Institute, and Henan Vocational-Technical Teachers College. Approved by the Ministry of Education, it was renamed to Henan Institute of Science and Technology in May 2004.

Covering an area of 2,478 mu (165.2 ha), HIST now owns 25 provincial Key-discipline Open Labs，21 provincial teams of Science and Technology Innovation, and 3 postdoctoral research stations and academician workstations. There are 62 undergraduate majors, 4 first-level and 21 second-level authorized disciplines of master degree, together with 3 categories of Agricultural Extension, Mechanical Engineering and Education for authorized professional master degree which covering 28 fields. At present, there are 34,000 full-time students, more than 1660 staff members, including 1346 full-time teachers. Among these academic teachers, more than 350 are doctor and master supervisors, 7 of them are “Double-employed Academicians” and “Central Plains Scholar”, 26 of them are provincial and university Specially-appointed Professors, 153 of them are professors, 463 of them are associate professors, 450 of them are doctors or doctoral candidates, 17 of them are young or middle-aged management experts on science and technology, experts with remarkable contributions to China, and provincial outstanding experts, 12 of them are national model or excellent teachers, 160 of them are provincial famous teachers, leading elites in academic and technology, provincial prominent teachers, and provincial young or middle-aged backbone teachers, and 53 of them have obtained programs of provincial invention fund for outstanding talents, provincial science fund for remarkable youth, innovation project for exceptional talents in science and research of Henan high education, and supporting plan for science and technology innovation talents of Henan high education. In addition, more than 70 well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad have been invited as part-time professors or visiting professors, such as Qiguo Zhao, Junyi Gai and Zhuomin Cheng, who are Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science, and Gaiping Zhang, Huanchun Chen, Shuxun Yu, Kongming Wu, Zongmao Chen and Shunhe Cheng who are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

HIST vigorously implements the strategy of “Strengthening University by Scientific Research”. It has achieved remarkable results in scientific research and technological development. Since the reform and opening up, HIST has completed 3,206 scientific research projects, including international cooperation projects, National Plans 863 and 973, National Natural Science Foundation, Key Projects of Science and Technology, Special Project on Genetically Modified Organisms, etc. There are 1,487 research projects which have been awarded for excellence in scientific and technological achievements, including 2 second-prizes of National Technology Innovation Award, 7 prizes of National Science and Technology Progress Award. The High-yield and High-quality wheat known as “Bainong 3217”, cultivated by HIST, has won the second-prize of the National Technology Innovation Award, contributing benefits of 5 billion RMB to economic and social development. New varieties of wheat “Bainong Aikang 58”, “Bainong 207” and new varieties of insect-resistant cotton “No. 1 Baimian” and “Baimian 985” have been approved by State New Varieties of Crops. They have been cultivated in large-scale in China, with further cultivation in Kirghizia and other countries in middle Asia. “Bainong Aikang 58” has become the popular wheat variety which has the largest promotion area in Henan Province and Southern Huanghuai Region in 6 consecutive years, with total cultivation acreage above 0.26 billion mu (17.3 million ha) and accumulated total benefits over 20 billion RMB, and it has been won the first-prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2013, which has made outstanding contributions to construction of the core area of national food and economic zone of central plains.

I. Requirements

1. Excellent Doctors (A)

Candidates generally shall be younger than 40 years old and has the potential to be an academic leader as well as meeting one of the following requirements: (1) Doctors of Natural Science shall publish 2 academic papers with high-level in one-zone SCI periodicals (Periodical zone classified by Chinese Academy of Sciences, similarly hereinafter); doctors of Humanities and Social Science shall publish 2 papers in A type periodicals identified by National Education Ministry or Department of Education in Henan, with published papers being appraised by peer experts as reaching the level of Excellent Doctors (A); (2) Doctors shall publish 1 academic paper in internationally top periodicals, such asNature,ScienceorCellas one of the first three authors and being identified as Excellent Doctors (A) by peer experts appraisal; (3) Doctors shall be awarded national excellent doctoral dissertations (including nominated dissertations); (4) Doctors shall take charge of national-level scientific research projects and publish 1 academic paper in one-zone SCI journals or international authorized journals, with the paper published being identified as Excellent Doctors (A) by peer experts review.

2. Excellent Doctors (B)

Candidates shall be under the age of 35, have the first degree of full-time undergraduate education and meet one of the following requirements: (1) Doctors of Natural Science shall publish 1 academic paper in one-zone SCI periodicals or 2 academic papers in second-zone SCI periodicals, with published papers being appraised by peer experts as reaching the level of Excellent Doctors (B); (2)Doctors of Humanities and Social Science shall publish 1 paper in A type periodicals identified by National Education Ministry or Department of Education in Henan, or 2 papers in B type periodicals, or 2 papers being fully reprinted in duplicated materials by Renmin University of China, with published or reprinted papers being appraised by peer experts as reaching the level of Excellent Doctors (B); (3) Doctors shall be awarded provincial excellent doctoral dissertations or hundred outstanding doctoral dissertations in Chinese Academy of Science.

3. Excellent Doctors (C)

Candidates shall be under the age of 35, have the first degree of full-time undergraduate education and meet one of the following requirements: (1) Doctors of Natural Science shall publish 1 academic paper in the second-zone SCI periodicals or 2 academic papers in the third-zone SCI periodical; (2)Doctors of Humanities and Social Science shall publish 1 paper in B type periodicals identified by National Education Ministry or Department of Education in Henan, or 3 papers in CSSCI source journals.

4. Doctors in Urgent Demand

Candidates shall be under the age of 35, have the first degree of full-time undergraduate education and meet the following requirements: (1) Majors of the candidates shall confirm with the majors or directions of badly required doctors’ recruitment in 2017, referring to the details of “Recruitment Majors” in the third part;(2) Doctors of Natural Science shall publish 2 academic papers in SCI, EI or first-level journals of your discipline; Doctors of Humanities and Social Science shall publish 2 papers in CSSCI source journals (papers fully reprinted in duplicated materials by Renmin University of China or 3 papers published in core journals equal to 1 paper in CSSCI source journals). The requirements could be adjusted for the doctors with high professional techniques majoring in Physical Education, Arts, Fashion, etc.

5. Doctors in Special Demand

This type is required to confirm to disciplines or related majors of doctoral degree construction in HIST, including Crop Genetics and Breeding, Biotechnology, Food Science, Agricultural Products Processing and Storage, Grain Grease and Plant Protein Engineering, Food Nutrition and Safety, Basic Veterinary Medicine, Clinical Veterinary Medicine, Preventive Veterinary Medicine, Horticulture Plant Molecular Biology, Facility Horticulture Physiological Ecology, Horticultural Plant Resources and Molecular Breeding, Adversity Molecular Mechanism of Horticultural Plants, Entomology, Plant Pathology and Pesticide Science. The specific requirements are the same as above Doctors in Urgent Demand.

6. Doctors in Demand

Candidates shall be under the age of 35, have the first degree of full-time undergraduate education and meet the following requirements: (1) Doctors of Natural Science shall publish 2 academic papers in SCI, EI or first-level journals of your discipline; (2) Doctors of Humanities and Social Science shall publish 2 papers in CSSCI source journals (papers fully reprinted in duplicated materials by Renmin University of China or 3 papers published in core journals equal to 1 paper in CSSCI source journals).

7. Notes

(1) The requirements could be adjusted if the candidate graduated from famous universities abroad, or supervised by academician, Changjiang scholar, national outstanding youth, director or vice-director of national key lab, or the candidate has experience of working in national-level scientific research platform.

(2) Unless otherwise stated, all the above mentioned papers are required to be published with the candidate as the first author or the second meanwhile the supervisor is the first

II. Payment

Note: If assessment tasks of an excellent doctor are completed within 5 years in HIST, the doctor recruited in 2017 can apply for settling-in allowance of excellent doctors. HIST provides relocation housing for all the doctors employed. Before distribution of relocation house, the university will pay 800 Yuan monthly as housing subsidies for the longest time of 3 years. Settling-in allowance will be increased by 50 thousand RMB, if doctors in urgent demand reach certain excellent doctoral conditions. Doctors in urgent demand can also apply for the treatment of excellent doctors, if assessment tasks are completed. In the event that the candidate is very outstanding and can complete evaluation programs of excellent doctors and specially-appointed professors, he/she will be employed as HIST specially-appointed professor. Besides enjoying the wages and benefits during employment, specially-appointed professors in HIST will be provided annual living allowance of 80 thousand RMB for first-level post and 60 thousand RMB for second-level post. Except for the assignments executed in accordance with the "HIST [2013]176" file, specially-appointed professors of first-level post shall publish 3 papers and second-level post 2 papers, in the first-zone or second-zone SCI journals as the first author.

1. As requested, open recruitment shall be signed up in the website appointed by Henan Provincial Department of Education.
